Maximiliano González | Documentary
2022 | 48 minutes | Spain
Isaac, Nora, and their parents explain the start of their passion for Latin American music and start their tour at the Canary Islands.
Synopsis
The origin of Latin American music comes from different sources, including indigenous traditions, the African presence in the territory, and the Spanish conquistadores and their classical music influence.
Isaac and Nora start their journey in the Canary Islands and discover the link between their traditional music and the ocean. The Canary Islands and Latin America have also maintained a very strong bond musically and culturally. Among others, they visit and get inspired by musician Valeria Castro and learn popular songs of the area such as “Palmero sube a la palma”.
Isaac and Nora then travel to Mexico and explore music genres such as boleros. They visit the CDMX, a cultural district in the heart of Mexico City, where one can find Frida Kahlo’s blue house, and Malinche’s house, as well as the fascinating Coyoacán market. Their trip culminates with a visits and collaboration with “Daniel Me Estás Matando”.
