Sick, Sick, Sick
(Sem seu sangue)
Alice Furtado | Fiction, Drama
2019 | 100 minutes | Brazil, France, The Netherlands
A teenage romance starts abruptly and ends suddenly after a serious accident. Silvia gets sick, her days turning to darkness. Her mourning becomes a quest to bring him back to life.
Synopsis
Silvia is an introspective young girl who is not interested in the daily routine of family and school. Everything changes when Artur unexpectedly joins her class after being expelled from several other schools. Silvia is amazed by the vitality of the boy, who actually suffers from a serious illness—hemophilia. The two immerse themselves in an intense and brief coexistence, which is interrupted by an accident in which Artur bleeds to death. Silvia falls ill and sees her life turn into a strange nightmare. Her mourning gradually becomes an obsession, and that obsession turns into a quest—Silvia will do anything to bring him back to life.
Reviews
"The emotions and feelings it presents are powerful and feel real. The rhythm that the director gives to the story and the narrative resources she uses imbue it with a tragic beauty full of calm that is difficult to find in typical romantic stories in cinema" - Bruno Carmelo, Adoro Cinema
