Adrián Jaime | Documentary

2023 | 120 minutes | Argentina

The order to burn books was only a warning of what thousands of men and women who resisted the prevailing dictatorship in Argentina would face.

Synopsis

The Cordobazo is a pivotal moment in Argentina's history, marking a fierce and transformative resistance against the military dictatorship of Juan Carlos Onganía in 1969. This documentary traces the powerful civil disobedience of the people of Córdoba, where workers and students united to challenge oppressive labor laws and the dictatorship's growing authoritarianism.

Through striking footage and interviews, the documentary highlights the powerful solidarity between diverse social groups, including unions from the industrial sector and student federations. The Cordobazo is remembered not just for the violence it entailed—resulting in several casualties—but also for the unshakable spirit of resistance it inspired, significantly weakening the regime's grip on power.
