Unconscious Revealed
(Inconscientes revelados)
Alexandra Loras, Bruno Zanetti, Louis Rodrigues | Documentary
2020 | 81 minutes | Brazil
An examination of racial issues in Brazil from its historical formation, including Black representation in markets, entrepreneurial women, generational patterns, and the lingering scar of racism.
Synopsis
Activist, speaker, and former French consul, Alexandra Loras exposes a current overview of racial issues in Brazil. From the historical formation of Brazilians to the current scenario, the real representation of the Black class in the consumer and labor market, the role of Black women ahead of entrepreneurial thinking, the behavioral patterns that are repeated generation after generation and prevent millions of people from reaching their full potential, in addition to other themes that make up a portrait of the Brazil in which we live.
As the film explores the layers of Brazilian society in their deepest particulars, it reveals the unconscious that build this diverse but analogous nation; cordial, but austere, and in whose predicates the scar of racism insists that the scar of racism remains latent.
Reviews
"A film that shows the historical formation of Brazilians up to the current scenario, portraying the scars and structures of racism still present in society." - Bantumen
"One of the few Brazilian audiovisual productions in which most of the professionals involved are black people...The doc portrays the formation of the Brazilian people, leadership of black women in entrepreneurship and behavioral patterns that shape our society." - Jão Nicomedes, Cultura Preta
