Genaro

(Genaro)
Jesús Reyes, Andrés Porras | Drama, Classic

2016 | 18 minutes | Colombia

Genaro delivers the bodies of paramilitaries killed in combat to their families. He's left cold, until he is tasked with finding a particular corpse.

Synopsis

Genaro is part of La Trilogía Escarlata (Genaro, Tierra Escarlata, and Elena), which explores the construction of Colombian historical memory through fiction.

Genaro, a farmer from the northern coast of Colombia, has the responsibility of delivering the bodies of paramilitaries killed in combat to their mothers and wives. He presents them in rustic wooden boxes along with an envelope containing money.

Genaro is immune to the pain that death brings; he hands over the boxes and departs, feeling no sorrow or grief. However, his routine work takes a toll on his soul when he receives a specific command: to find a particular corpse among the others.
